Have Hope and Be Hope are entities dedicated to neighbourhood-based community initiatives based in Bangsar/Damansara Heights area of Kuala Lumpur. Comprised of friends who share a common passion to contribute to the betterment of our community.
We endeavour to do this through social discourses as well as through service projects and educational programmes. We collaborate with individuals and communities in a variety of social spaces to learn as well as to contribute to shaping of attitudes so that our community could become more diverse, more equitable and more inclusive. Underlying our activities is our fundamental belief that we are all members of one human family, and that we each have a part to play in building vibrant peaceful communities.
What do we do?
- Social Discourse: We spark conversations on important social issues, fostering understanding and empathy within our community.
- Service Projects: We roll up our sleeves and get involved in projects that directly benefit our community.
- Educational Programs: We offer programmes that empower individuals with the attitudes, knowledge and skills to become active changemakers.
- Home Visits in the Neighbourhood: we visit neighbours that are isolated, or feeling unwell. We also try to connect junior youth to the elderly, to foster well-being and build more trust within the neighbourhood.
- Social Action - using the Arts. We invite different movie directors, writers, playwrights and actors to talk about movies, stories and films that are socially-minded. Neighbours and friends and creatives come together, to discuss and see how arts can be used as a means of social transformation.
All positions are volunteer roles.
