Capacity Building Programmes

 We run the following programmes:

  1. Meaningful conversations
  2. Virtues programme to bring out the best in us
  3. Literacy programmes to empower us for personal growth and social progress

1. Meaningful Conversations

We facilitate weekly supportive group conversations that help individuals and children find a meaningful connection between their spiritual and material pursuits.  This is offered as part of a global empowerment programme by the Ruhi Institute, which, as at 2022, more than 2 million courses have been completed in neighbourhoods and villages in more than 200 countries, with more than 750,000 individuals completing the first module.
  • This programme aims to help children up to age 11 years old develop spiritual qualities and live by their highest values.
  • For junior youth aged 12 to 15, the mentoring programme aims to empower them to become active and engaged members of their communities.  It aims to help them develop their spiritual qualities, intellectual capabilities, and sense of social responsibility through group discussions, artistic activities, community service, and study of literature to help participants build a strong moral identity.  By fostering strong moral values and enhancing their communication skills, the programme helps them develop the confidence and ability to tackle challenges and better understand the world.
Service projects form a key part of their activities. Here's one such service project

At regular intervals, presentation days are held where parents are invited to witness their children’s progress. During these events, the children showcase their projects, share their learning experiences, and demonstrate the skills they have acquired. This not only provides a platform for the young participants to express themselves but also strengthens the bond between parents and children and the facilitators, fostering a supportive environment for continued growth and development. Here's one such Sunday Funday.

  • In a supportive and nurturing environment, this programme aims to helps adults develop the skills and knowledge needed to serve their communities effectively. Participants share experiences and learn from each other while building their capacity for service.
Service plays a crucial role in this programme as it fosters unity, creates a positive impact, offers mutual benefits, and provides spiritual fulfillment. By working together on community projects, participants can break down barriers, strengthen relationships, and contribute to a more just society. Additionally, service can lead to personal growth and development, as well as instill a deeper sense of meaning and purpose. Ultimately, service is a fundamental aspect of human experience that enriches our lives and helps us connect with others on a deeper level.

2. The Virtues Programme

We host regular gatherings to explore virtues to inspire us to remember who we really are and to live by our highest values everyday.  Such as respect, integrity, justice and trustworthiness.  Conversations are meaningful and nourish thinking and actions going forward.  We also host sessions where virtues are used as a tool for personal growth and healing and a path to deeper meaning, purpose and joy in our lives.

Virtues are our inner strengthsthe content of our character, and the truest expression of our self. Respect, integrity, justice and trustworthiness. Values are culture specific, while virtues are universally valued by people of all cultures. Virtues are the common thread that unites humanity.

The Virtues Project (https://www.virtuesproject.com/) is a global grassroots initiative is based on virtues that are universally valued by all people and cultures, and was honoured by the United Nations during  the International Year of the Family as a “model programme for all cultures”.  This programme inspires the practice of virtues in everyday life, and has empowered individuals to live more authentic meaningful lives, families to raise children of compassion and integrity, educators to create safe, caring, and high performing learning communities, and leaders to encourage excellence and ethics in the workplace and community.

Since 1991 The Virtues Project has been introduced in more than 135 countries by trained facilitators. It has inspired and mobilized people worldwide to commit acts of humanity and service, to heal violence with virtues, and to lead with character. The Virtues Project is being implemented within prevention, intervention and healing programs worldwide.

Being a Master Virtues Project™ Facilitator since 1996, we have conducted numerous sessions for parents, office workers, spouses. We have seen the beneficial results of using The Virtues Project™ strategies to help individuals become more responsible, caring, respectful, self-disciplined, and peaceful.

3. Literacy Programmes

As literacy is a tool for empowering individuals and communities for personal growth and social progress, we also offer programmes responding to the specific needs and language of the community.

Crucially, the driving force for such literacy activities emanates primarily from the natural stirrings at the community when desires for self-improvement are voiced and we respond to the needs to endow young people with the capabilities of reading with good comprehension and expressing thoughts.  These programmes often go beyond just teaching reading and writing, and often integrate moral education such as essential qualities like love, truthfulness, and kindness, which along with positive habits and actions, become the building blocks of a good character.
